Jummy's

  milestones
born September 8, 2006

from Annette -- July 18, 2008     Jumbuck and Brady did us proud at the county fair! Jummy was the 2nd highest scoring dog overall in Obedience, and the only first-year Obedience dog to earn enough points for a Purple ribbon. They scored a 150 out of a possible 160 points, and were beat out of the top spot by only 2 points. We do our county fair dog show during the actual fair, in the livestock arena in the middle of all the sheep, cattle, goats, rabbits, and poultry (not to mention all the fair-goer traffic that is constantly going through the barn while the dogs are in the ring!) so it is a real test for the kids and their dogs. The judge was amazed when she found out this was Jumbuck's 1st time to compete in the Obedience ring, and she encouraged Brady to work with him and move him on up to the off-leash Obedience right away. We have had him down to the fair several times this week, and he certainly turns heads and gets lots of compliments. Even the judge for the cattle show had to come over during the show and tell me what a good-looking Aussie he is.

 I think Jumbuck was pretty
 proud of himself, too.

from Annette -- June 18, 2008     Jumbuck is working with my son Brady and is getting ready to compete in Obedience at our county fair in July. He has picked up all the basic commands very quickly in the short time we have been working with him. Tonight some of the county dog 4-H kids got together for a practice, and I took these pictures. Brady was pleased with Jummy tonight, he did all the exercises nicely, even with all the other dogs and distractions around. The real test will be at the fair, because the dog show is held in the arena right in the middle of all the sheep, cattle, chickens, and rabbits! Add all the fair-goers walking around, and it is sometimes a little nerve-wracking for the kids and their dogs. But it is always fun, and I think Jummy will do a good job. He's definitely a quick learner, and has a lot of natural instinct. I swear he already knew what "heel" meant, before I even showed him what I wanted him to do.

What an idyllic
river scene!

he turned 7 months old on Sunday, April 8!)

from Annette -- April 5, 2007     Oh my gosh, was yesterday ever an exciting day! And an absolutely HUGE win for Jumbuck, at a specialty no less! The judge absolutely adored him, and said he was her pick immediately after she saw him come into the ring. She said that his and Eric's movement was flawless. It was a 4pt. major for Winner's Dog, then when he was selected Best of Winners, I believe he will get the extra point for a 5 pt. major (there were around 28 bitches total). [Judge Ms Dany Camino] I think Paul was just as proud of him as I was. In the sweepstakes, Jumbuck won his puppy class, was named Winner's Dog, then also won Best Opposite. [Judge Ms Terri Morgan] I am still on cloud nine this morning. I won't be able to go watch him today, but will try to make it down there again tomorrow. I think I am his 'good luck charm!'

The minute I saw him, I knew he had to be Eric. It is unreal how much he reminded me of Jumbuck! I hope that Jummy grows up to be as nice a dog and as beautiful as Eric. The second photo [above, right] shows both of them receiving their wins from the judge; can you tell how tired Jummy was at that point??!!

from Annette -- April 1, 2007

Yesterday in Claremore, OK, at his 2nd show, Jumbuck won his puppy class, then went on to win Winner's Dog for his first 2 AKC points! [Judge Mrs. Donna J. Buxton] We were so happy to be there to see him take this win. He was a little wiggly when the judge went over him in the puppy class, but Paul gained Jumbuck's composure quickly, and handled him really well. He especially showed well when he went back in for Winner's Dog and Best of Breed.

Today, on Sunday, he won his puppy class again. He hadn't forgotten us when he saw us, and immediately jumped right up into Brian's arms! I will scan and send the official photo of his win after I receive it in the mail. Kelley and Paul are doing a great job with him, and he is learning alot! They will be showing him in an Aussie specialty show this week in Wichita, KS, and I plan to go down and watch him again.

Here's a few photos [see above] I took of Jumbuck at the show yesterday. The win photo that I will send later will be awesome, though! We were so proud of him and tickled to death that the judge selected him for this win! The judge was Mrs. Donna Buxton.   Annette

This weekend in Ottumwa, IA Jumbuck took RWD on Saturday, then went WD on Sunday and got another point! [Judge Mrs. Bettie L. Krause] That puts him up to 8 points now, I believe. Next weekend he will be shown in Waterloo, IA, then straight on to Nationals from there.  Annette

April 21, 2007 Kelley called today to tell me that Jumbuck took Winner's Dog again, at Waterloo, IA! [Judge Ms Beverly Capstick] Maybe 5 dogs there, I think. But she said it was different competition than they've been seeing. I guess there were some dogs there from California that are also headed to Nationals. So I think that's pretty awesome that he keeps doing well! Jumbuck was also named Best Puppy today in Waterloo, along with Winner's Dog!   Annette

April 25, 2007     Here is a National update! Jumbuck made the cut of 6 puppy dogs out of 14 in the Sweepstakes class! I wasn't there yesterday to see it, but Kelley took pictures for me. Karen also watched him both days and thought he looked awesome. I got to visit with her and enjoyed that. Brady and I may go back down on Friday and watch the Best of Breed competition. There are 94 entered....... what a difficult judging assignment that will be!

Kelley and Paul have Jumbuck looking so nice, don't they?

May 1, 2007      Also, this past weekend in Marshalltown, IA, he took WD / Best of Winners on Saturday [Judge Prof Douglas C Taylor], and RWD on Sunday.   -- Annette

May 27, 2007       Jumbuck took a RWD last weekend with some good competition at Gardner, KS, and today in Bloomington, IL, he took RWD to a major. Kelley said he is starting to lose his puppy coat now, but that he is still showing as awesome as ever. I will be going to get him on Tuesday or Wednesday to bring him home for the summer. I am looking forward to that. Kelley said that they have not had a client's dog that they have ever enjoyed as much as Jumbuck. They love his personality and character, and said that he never has a bad day. They are getting ready for their upcoming wedding on June 2, and looking forward to some time off on the honeymoon!  -- Annette

August 15,2007

October 10, 2007      Jumbuck was WD/BOW at Lincoln, NE last Sunday for 1 more point. The entry numbers for Aussies were very low at this show. That puts Jummy up to 11 points. Eric was there also. This coming weekend he will be in Lawrence, KS. It's not a major for dogs, but it's close. I think it would be a major for BOW. I will be there showing my bulldog, so I'm looking forward to watching him show again!   -- Annette
