Puppy ears sometimes stand more erect at teething time.
Here is
information
on the U and O elasticized gauze bandage which will get the problem under control.
The cap, or -- if you prefer -- glue, needs to used by 6 months; if done a little later, it is harder;
and sometimes doesn't work.
Our daughter, Julie, said the glue that some owners use to hold the ears down not only pulled Ghost's hair out,
but made sores on his face. So she used the elasticized gauze cap method. A shorter strip
connects and holds the ears. The elasticized gauze is
sort of sticky, but --unlike adhesive tape-- doesn't pull hair out. This "U" strip is
pressed under the ear on the first side, goes under the
chin, and attaches under the other ear on the other side. The "U" keeps the ears in place.
Then a much longer strip, the "O," goes twice around
the head and holds the ears down. This cap isn't needed very long, and I never had the
courage NOT to do something when a teething puppy's
ears popped up, because, supposedly, if not tended to, the ears will not fold over
in an attractive manner.
The cap involves no pain at all.
Ghost's ears look just fine now.
